Jacob Wolf Home

Address: 930 Pendleton Street (now 148 Pendleton St NW)

Timeframe: Before 1920 – After 1940

Current Occupant: house gone; now driveway exit for Southern Bank & Trust

Jacob & Julia Wolf also lived on Pendleton Street where they raised their children Rebecca, Isadore, Annie, Ida, Sam & Abraham. The exact location of the house on Pendleton St is not completely certain. The 1920 census shows they owned a house on Pendleton St but does not give an address. The 1930 census show them owning a house at 900 Pendleton while the 1940 census gives the address of the house they owned as 930 Pendleton.

The Wolf’s appear to have moved to Pendleton St from Greenville St where the 1910 census indicates they rented a house. Prior to that, the 1900 census shows Jacob Wolf as single & living in Gregg (Graniteville) where he operated as a peddler. Julia must have joined him soon afterwards because daughter Becky was born in Graniteville in 1903 before the family moved to Aiken in 1904.
