Benjamin Surasky (1911-1975) & Harry Surasky (1909-1974) were sons of Solomon Surasky. These brothers opened a liquor store after the closing of Sol Surasky's Department Store, which Harry had run after Sol’s death in 1941. Harry was the primary manager of the business while Ben was a lawyer in town, serving as Court Prosecutor as well as on City Council. The liquor store was first located in the Farmers & Merchants Bank Building (now Bank of America) but was moved to its’ Park Avenue East location in 1966 after the brothers bought the building. The business was sold to new owners in 1971 and again in 1980 and continues to operate to this day as The Palmetto Package Shop.
