Abraham Wolf (1916-1988) was the son of Jacob & Julia Wolf. He opened the Famous Shoe Store on Laurens St in 1947. The store first operated in the location currently occupied by Plum Pudding and subsequently moved to the location occupied by Lionel Smith Ltd. Abe owned the building in this new location and continued to run the store until 1976, when he leased the space to Alex McCain, an African American US Army veteran. The store continued to operate from that location until the building was destroyed by fire in 1980.
