Isadore Kaplan (1914-1985) opened this restaurant on Laurens St in 1949 and ran it with help from his brother Abe. The restaurant specialized in Kosher style food. Isadore’s father, Sam Kaplan (1888-1955) was a fixture behind the cash register. The Kaplan’s were related to the Wolf family by marriage. Isadore’s mother, Ida Kamenoff Kaplan (1882-1954), was the sister of Julia Kamenoff Wolf, owner of Julia’s Dress Shop. The restaurant was expanded in 1953, adding an additional dining room by acquiring space in a building on Hayne Ave. The restaurant closed sometime after 1954, possibly coinciding with the deaths of both Ida & Sam Kaplan.
